Dont get bamboozled at the pumps!

Have you noticed the new labels on UK garage forecourts this month?
Here’s all the gen you need!
Firstly, the fuel hasn’t changed, we’ve still got green hoses for petrol and black for diesel. Petrol is now badged “E5” and diesel “B7”.So, what’s with the new labels?Well, the E5 and B7 labels tell us the type of fuel and what percentage of renewable fuel it contains.Where are the new labels? They’re on the pump nozzles at all fuel stations as of now. As from April 2020 all new cars will have the new labels on their fuel caps too, so you can match the label on your car with the one on the pump.
Can you use E5 petrol when your car has an E10 sticker?Yes, vehicles built since 2000 can run on E10 and E5 petrol.
Can you still use B7 diesel when your car or van has a “No Biodiesel” sticker?Yes, B7 is suitable for ALL diesel engines.
Remember, the fuel hasn’t changed! Why do they add renewable fuel to UK petrol and diesel? For 10 years now refineries have blended Ethanol and Biodiesel into our fuel. In 2018 this helped reduce CO2 emissions by the equivalent of over 1,000,000 less cars on the road!
See? You’re doing your bit for the environment after all!
